Maria leads SQN's Board Practice, advising shareholders, board chairs and committee chairs on board composition, board effectiveness and governance. She specialises in identifying and appointing independent directors whose expertise strengthens boards and supports the company's long-term strategic priorities.
Her experience includes board director search and assessment, board effectiveness reviews and governance projects, with particular expertise in CEO succession planning. She works closely with boards to ensure they have the capabilities, diversity of experience and leadership required to guide organisations through periods of growth, transformation and increasing complexity.
Prior to joining SQN, Maria was a member of the Board Practice teams at Korn Ferry and Spencer Stuart, two of the world's leading leadership advisory firms. She advised clients on board appointments and governance assignments across Russia, the Middle East, Italy, South Africa, Hong Kong and the CIS, combining international governance standards with a deep understanding of regional market dynamics.
